Huomasin alkuvuonna, että minulla on paljon teoksia, jotka olen merkinnyt myydyksi gallerioista/jälleenmyyjiltä jo hyvän aikaa sitten, mutta joita ei ole tilitetty minulle. Jonkin aikaa sitten aloin tehdä sitten oikein perusteellista inventaariota: ensin käymällä kevään aikana jokaisen sarjan jokaisen vedoksen läpi teoshallintaohjelmassa, ja kunhan homman saan loppuun, siirryn konkreettisesti tutkimaan joka kolon työtiloissani.
Inventaarion ensimmäinen konkreettinen tulos oli se, että sain takaisin Haalistunut kaiku- vedoksen, jonka olin merkinnyt myydyksi, ja josta en vain ollut saanut tilitystä. Harmittaa, koska tätä teosta on kysynyt useampikin, mutta olen kertonut kaikille, että sitä ei ole enää saatavilla. Toisaalta, ehkä, kun teosta on kyselty niin paljon, se löytää vielä kodin nopeastikin.
Ironiaa on, että miltei samanlainen juttu tapahtui saman teoksen toisen vedosnumeron kohdalla. Hain muutama vuosi sitten kaikki teokseni pois galleriasta, joka ei tilittänyt koskaan ajallaan ja josta omien rahojensa kinuaminen oli oikeasti työlästä, kerta toisensa jälkeen. (Galleria ei ole enää jälleenmyyjälistallani). Tuolloin olin saanut tilityksen tämän vedoksen nimellä, mutta se olikin sekaannus: toinen teos oli tilitetty väärällä nimellä. Huomasin sen, kun Haalistunut kaiku olikin noutamieni vedosten joukossa, ja sitä toista vedosta ei ollut.
Ja kuinka ollakaan: jossain välissä gallerian ja työhuoneen välillä - tai toivottavasti: myöhemmin työhuoneessa - hukkasin pois noutamani vedoksen.
Useita muitakin vedoksia on teillä tietämättömillä. Joskus teokset "katoavat" jälleenmyyjän väärän tilitysmerkinnän vuoksi, mutta sitä tapahtuu melko harvoin. Useimmin teokset katoavat ihan omassa hallussani. Joudun näyttelyiden ja tapahtumien vuoksi siirtelemään vedoksia paikasta toiseen jatkuvasti, ja kehystämättöminä nuo ovat juuri niin ohuita ja sellofaanipussissaan liukkaita lipumaan kyydistä pois, että helposti karkaavat omille teilleen.
Luulen silti, että suurin osa nyt kadonneista vedoksista on piilossa työtiloissani, ja löytyvät, kun nyt pääsen aloittamaan perusteellisen läpikäymisen, supersuursiivouksen, ja avaan kaikki laatikot, kansiot ja muut, ja käyn läpi jokaisen raon, johon vedokset olisivat päässeet liukumaan. Todennäköisin skenaario katoamisille on se, että kun yleensä pakkaaminen tehdään ihan valtavassa kiireessä, ja varsinaisesta pakkauslaatikosta ulos jäävät työt helposti pakkaa johonkin väliaikaispakettiin, "jonka varmasti muistaa sitten myöhemmin". Kun taas purkaminen viivästyy ehkä viikon tai parikin, ja siinä ajassa ehtii aina unohtaa ne "väliaikaisratkaisut", jotka pakkauskiireessä tuli tehtyä.
Toivotaan, että kesäkuukaudet tuovat mahdollisimman monta kadonnutta kuvaa takaisin.

Early in this year I noticed that there are a lot of prints that I've marked as 'sold' from reseller galleries but of which I haven't got my payment of. A while ago I started making a thorough inventory: first going through every print of every series in my print management program (where I can see where each print is situated), and after I'll finish, I'll start to explore my work spaces.
The first concrete result of my inventory was to get back this one print Faded Echo, which I had marked as sold, but which hadn't been paid for me. I'm annoyed, because there have been a lot of people requesting this print, and I've told them it's no longer available. On the other hand, maybe it will find a home soon because it has been so requested.
The biggest irony is that almost the same thing happened earlier with this same print (another edition number). A few years back I fetched all my prints from one gallery which never paid on time and where it was a true agony to get payments. (The gallery is no longer on my resellers list.) At that time I had received payment of this print, but it was a mixup: another sold print was paid with a wrong name. I only found out, when I noticed that Faded Echo was among the prints I took back, and the other one wasn't.
And what happened: somewhere between the gallery and studio - or hopefully: later in the studio - I lost the print.
There are some other prints missing as well. Sometimes they "get lost" because of the wrong markings made by reseller, but this happens very rarely. Most of the prints are lost by me. I have to move prints around and from one place to another constantly, and without frames, in their cellophane bags they are just so thin and slippery, that they easily slide off.
I still think, that most of the lost prints are now hiding somewhere in my workspaces, and they will be found, when I'll get to start my thorough super cleaning: I'll open every folder, box and check every possible place, including all the slots and spaces in-between drawers. The most likely scenario on losing the prints is, that they get lost in this moving-around. Often the packing is made in such a hurry, and I make a lot of 'temporary' solutions for packing, "which I will certainly remember later". But when the unpacking then starts a week or two later, at that point I've certainly forgot all those 'temporary solutions' made a few weeks earlier.
I wish, that the summer months will bring back many of those lost pictures.
