Eilen lauantaina osallistuin ensimmäistä kertaa Jyväskylän Designtorille. En ole aiemmin koskaan ehtinyt edes käymään tapahtumassa, joten en oikeastaan tiennyt ollenkaan, mitä odottaa. Vähän laiskasti valmistauduin kyllä. Ratamon tuleva näyttely on vienyt kaiken huomioni ja päässä pyörii tauoton teosvalmistelu, vaikka en fyysisesti töiden äärellä olisikaan. Vein vain Designtorille aikalailla samat kassit tavaraa kuin edellisellä viikolla Joulubasaariinkin, lisättynä niillä askartelemillani vihkosilla, joita ehti kertyä kuitenkin ihan hyvä nippu. Muutamaa päivää tapahtumaa ennen tulin ajatelleeksi, että koska taitettavat pöytäni eivät mahdu 2 x 1,5m tilaan samalla tavoin aseteltuna kuin miten ne esimerkiksi Habitaressa olivat, en voi käyttää vaneripäällyksiä sellaisenaan. Pöytäliinojakaan en oikein tuohon systeemiin ja tässä pienessä aikaikkunassa ehtinyt etsiä, mutta sen tiesin, että pöydän alla vallinneen Claes Ohlson- ja Biltema -kassien kaaoksen halusin piiloon. Joten Postista rulla pakkauspaperia ja sillä reippaasti pöytä pakettiin. Hyvin toimiva ja käytännöllinen - ja etten sanoisi peräti maanläheinen - ratkaisu. Lievästi kyllä nauratti oma diy-settini, kun kävin loppuvaiheessa päivää kiertämässä tilan ympäri ja kaikkialla oli niin mahdottoman... - no, mikä sana se olisi vastakohta tee-se-itselle? :D
Mutta kaikessaan: olipa sitten ihan mahtava päivä! Järjestelyt toimivat, tapasin aivan uusia ihmisiä ja asiakkaita ja viileässä jaksoi pysyä virkeänä koko tapahtuman läpi. Mutta kieltämättä pitkän tapahtumasyksyn viimeinen yksittäinen koetus, jonka jälkeen voimat vain valahtivat jäsenistä heti kotiovella. Eilisilta sujui puoliunessa scifileffaa katsoen ja kahtentoista tunnin yöunienkaan jälkeen ei olo ole yhtään voimaantuneempi. Tänään oli tarkoitus vähän siivota, mutta noinkohan jaksan edes purkaa tavaroita kasseista? (Eikä puhuta edes mistään joulusiivosta, vaan jos nyt sen tavallisen "viikkosiivouksen" - loka-, marras- ja joulukuun ajalta - saisi tehtyä ennen parin päivän joululomaa...) Kai se on pakko yrittää. Hyvänä pontimena toimii PS4 Ratchet & Clank -peleineen. Sovimme, että asennamme pari päivää sitten hankitun pelikoneen seinään vasta, kun asunto on siivottu.

Yesterday I took part for the Jyväskylä Designtori for the first time. I haven't even visited the event before, so I actually didn't know anything about what to expect. I was totally lazy in all preparations. My next exhibition at the Gallery Ratamo has taken all my attention, and the preparation works for the exhibition are playing in my head constantly, even I wasn't physically doing the job. I just took the same bags to Designtori which I had in Christmas Bazaar the week before, only added those selfmade notebooks. Just a few days before the event I came to think about the table: I have had a custom size plywood covers for the tables, but I realized that because the space size was smaller than in previous events I have used the tables, I couldn't position the tables same way - and thus I couldn't use the plywood covers. I didn't find time to look for any table cloths either, but I knew that I wanted to hide the chaos of Claes Ohlson and Biltema bags under my table. So: I got a roll of brown packaking paper from the postoffice, and covered the table with it. It was a well working and very practical solution. But I was mildly amused of my diy set when I took a round at the event later and saw every other table that were... - well, what's the opposite for diy? :D
But in all: it was a great day! Everything worked fine, I met totally new people and custormers, and it was chilly enough to keep fresh through the event. But also, it was the last event of the long and busy autumn, and after getting back home, I just felt how my powers weakened. Yesterday I just watched some scifi movie in half-sleep, but even after twelve hours of sleep I'm not really energized. Today I had planned to clean a little bit, but I'm not sure if I have it in me to even empty those bags? (And I'm not really talking about any Christmas mega cleaning, but just an ordinary "weekly cleaning" - all of them for October, November and December in one time - if we only could managed to tidy a bit before the Christmas holidays...) I guess I have to try. A good motive is PS4 with Ratchet & Clank game. We agreed that we would install the game console that we bought a few days ago, just after the house is first tidied.
Really a Grown-Up Motive :)
