After a lot of requests upon the 'From the Lighthouse Sites' series, which I no longer make new prints of, I decided to make some (cropped) cards of them. The first test versions were delivered today, printed on matte paper instead of glossy which I normally use for my cards. Päivä alkoi harmituksella. Dyes in History and Archaeology 21 -kirja oli loppunut välittäjältä, en saanutkaan tilattua sitä. Tätä jo tosin etukäteen vähän ounastelin, koska olen ko. julkaisua yrittänyt löytää useamman vuoden, mutta en ole saanut käsiini. Se on muutaman kerran tullut esiin £80-90 hintaan, mutta se on turhan tyyris kukkarolleni. Ehkä hyvä näin, koska kun kävin maksamassa vakuutusmaksut ja näyttelyn pakkausmaksun, tililläni varmaankin kaikuu.

Muutenkin vähän harmittaa: on aika sateinen ja pimeä päivä, mikä vähän rajoittaa omaa tekemistäni. Työhuoneeni luonnonvaloloisteputkilamppua ei ole vielä asennettu ja valoa ei ole oikein tarpeeksi printtailuhommiin. Ehkä minun ei tarvitsisi olla näin neuroottisen tarkka väreistä, mutta minkäs itselleen mahtaa. Siitä huolimatta tein muutamia vedoksia, joiden kohdalla uskalsin luottaa aiemmin tekemiini asetuksiin.

Vein eilen Art Fair Finland 2015 -tapahtumaan tarkoittamiani töitä kehystykseen, mutta tänään sain kuulla, että sinne on minulta valittu vain yksi työ. Yhden työn roudaaminen Helsinkiin tapahtumaa varten ei ole täältä käsin millään tavalla taloudellisesti järkevää (eikä nyt suoraan sanoen muutenkaan kovin innottavaa), joten ilmoitin samantien jättäväni tapahtuman väliin. Kehystystetyt työt taidan nyt jättää työhuoneelle odottamaan vaikka Jyväskylän taiteilijaseuran syyskuista teosvälitystapahtumaa, eli kehystys itsessään ei mene hukkaan, enkä viitsi sitä perua.

Viime viikolla tilaamani kortit tulivat. Peruskorttien lisäksi tilasin myös testinä pienen satsin uusia korttikuvia (vanhoista kuvista) uudelle mattapaperille. Avasin paketin ja tarkistin nämä uudet, mutta tarkemmin pitää käydä läpi myöhemmin.

Iltapäivän ja alkuillan piirsin miniprinttikuvia. Piirrän tussilla paperille, skannaan ja käsittelen Illustratorissa ja Photoshopissa. Tänään on ollut kaikessa tekemisessä kohtuullisen hidas ja energiaton päivä ja piirtelyprosessissakin olen jäljessä suunnitelmissani. Pitää vain toivoa, että huomenna ei ukkosta, koska en uskalla pitää konetta seinässä salamoiden aikaan. Sellainen tekemättömien asioiden pino on pöydälle kertynyt, ettei ole oikein varaa enää uusiin hidasteisiin.

Today started annoyingly. The 'Dyes in History and Archaeology 21' journal was not available anymore, so I couldn't order it. I sort of anticipated this, because I've been trying to find this publication for several years time, but I have never seen it available anywhere. At least for a reasonable price - £80-90 is a bit too much for my walllet. Maybe it's good this way, because when I went to pay my work insurance fees and the exhibition packaking fee, now it probably echoes in my account.

It's a bit annoying day in anyways too: it's rainy and dark, which limits my work a little bit. I have a natural white light fluorescent lamp but it's not installed yet, so there's just not enough light for printing projects. Maybe I shouldn't be so neurotic about my printing colours, but I just can't help myself. Nonetheless I made a few prints with earlier settings that I know I can trust.

Yesterday I took some of my works to the frame shop, which were meant to be sent to Art Fair Finland 2015, but today I heard that only one work from myself is chosen to be included. Shipping one small work to Helsinki from Jyväskylä is not financially wise at any point (besides sending only one work is a let down itself), so I just informed that I'm backing off the whole event this year. Framing itself won't be wasted - I just leave the works then to wait for the Jyväskylä Artists' Society art event in September, for example.

The postcards I ordered last week arrived. I ordered the basic cards, but also a small test order of some new postcard pictures (of old artworks) to a new matte paper. I just opened the parcel and checked the new ones, but I should really go through the whole pack later.

Afternoon and the early evening I continued drawing pictures for miniprints. I draw with felt tip point pen to paper, scan the pictures and finish them in Illustrator and Photoshop. Today I've been extra slow with everything I do and my energy levels are exceptionally low, and I'm so behind with this drawing process... I just need to believe, that tomorrow there will be no thunder, because I don't dare to keep my electric equipment on (electric wires on sockets) during lightnings. I just have so big pile of undone things on my desk, that I don't really have time for any extra speed bumps.
