Elämää värin kanssa // Life With Colour

Eilen loppui Suomen taidegraafikoiden Summer Prints -näyttely Helsingissä ja kohta loppuu Keski-Suomen valokuvataiteen 12. aluenäyttely. Pitäisi lähteä hakemaan teoksia pois Galleria Ratamosta, mutta en millään malttaisi lähteä koneen äärestä.

Olen viime päivinä askarrellut erilaisten värikuvioiden toisintojen kanssa. Ajatukseni on ollut iskeä vähintään kolme kärpästä yhdellä iskulla: saada tuotekuvituksia viime viikolla avaamaani Colorian Society6-kauppaan (jonka myyntituotto menee Coloria-projektien ylläpitoon ja kehittämiseen), saada kuvitusta Colorian uudistuville nettisivuille sekä harjoittaa jo puoliksi unohtuneita Illustrator-ohjelman käyttötaitojani. Illustratorin verestämiseen väriympyrät aiheuttavatkin mukavaa ja monimuotoista työkaluharjoittelua, kun yksinkertaisissa kuvioissakin on paljon pieniä toistettavia juttuja, ja kerta toisensa jälkeen saa ilahduttavia ahaa-elämyksiä. Omaan haasteensa heittää kehiin vanhojen kuvioiden näennäinen symmetrisyys: kun ympyrä ei olekaan ihan ympyrä ja kuusikulmiot ja tähdet ovat mittasuhteiltaan vaihtelevaisia.

Tämä väriympyröiden ja -pyramidien ja ties minkä systeemien kanssa pelaaminen on todellista sunnuntaiterapiaa työn keskelle.

Yesterday the Finnish Print Makers Association's Summer Prints exhibition ended in Helsinki, and today the 12th Regional Exhibition of Photography in Central Finland will end just in couple of hours. I should go and pick up my works from the Gallery Ratamo, but it's hard for me to make myself go...

During the few last days I have worked with remaking of colour wheels and systems. I thought that I could both make new illustrations available at my Coloria Society6 Shop I opened last week (the profits of any sales go straight to funding my Coloria projects) and to have some illustration material in Coloria.net website that I'm renewing at the moment, and also to practise my halfly forgotten Illustrator skills. For the latter purpose the colour systems are really good ones for tool practice, as there are many repeatable processes in even the simplest of the shapes, and I have had an heureka moment after another! And whole another trick is to redo the polygons and star shapes which are not really symmertrical even they first look like it.

Playing with these colour wheels and pyramides and what-ever-systems is the Sunday Therapy at its best.
