Kesäpäivä II - Summer Day II

Kun ei taidettaan museoon esille saa, se pitää salakuljettaa sinne itse! :D

Aloitin pari päivää sitten järjestyksessään kahdeksannen Random Prints -projektini, joka tälläkin kertaa tapahtuu Suomessa. Kesäpäivä II-vedos on kuvallista jatkumoa viime vuoden erityisprojektille, joka toteutettiin geokätkentätyylisesti Porissa. Tänä vuonna taidekaupungiksi profiloitunut Mänttä sai kunnian olla ensimmäinen paikka, johon kirjeitä jäi löydettäväksi.

Tosiasiassahan matkasin Mänttään ja Serlachius-museoon, koska yksi teokseni on kutsuttu mukaan pienimuotoiseen näyttelyyn syksyllä 2018, joten olen oikeasti saamassa teokseni esiin museoon. Mutta voihan sitä ohjat ottaa omiin käsiinsä ja vähän nopeuttaa teostensa päätymistä museon seinien sisälle! En ollut suunnitellut jättäväni kirjeitä itse näyttelytilaan, mutta kun huomasin, että päänäyttelyn nimi oli Kesäpäiviä, en voinut vastustaa kiusausta. Näyttely oli niin hyvin vahdittu, että vaati jo melkoista sumplimista, että sain livautettua kuoren penkillä lepäävän näyttelyjulkaisun väliin - mutta onnistuipa se sittenkin. Toivottavasti joku on löytänytkin sen!

(Tämä Kesäpäivä II -vedos oli itseasiassa melko vaikea toteuttaa, koska halusin siihen värin, joka ei kuulunut musteiden väriskaalaan. Tein veden ensin sinisellä, sitten lisäsin sen päälle kerroksen vihreää ja keltaista. Se itseasiassa lopulta toimi ihan mainiosti, vaikka koevedoksia kertyi melkoinen määrä, ennenkuin sain ideasta kiinni. Kaikki koevedokset ja muut hukkavedokset ja hyvin työlään prosessin mukaanlukien tämä oli itseasiassa selvästi kallein Random Prints -vedos, jonka olen tehnyt - mutta olen iloinen, että vihdoin sain kokeiltua tätä kauan mielessä piillyttä ideaa, ja vielä onnistuin!)

When I can't get my art shown at the museum in other ways, I just have to smuggle it in myself! :D

A few days ago I started my eight Random Prints, which, also this time, takes place in Finland. Summer Day II print continues the theme of the last years Random Prints Special Edition, which was made with geocaching idea in Pori. This time Mänttä, a small Finnish town which has been profiling itself as a Art Town, was the very first of the several Random Prints locations this year.

In fact I travelled to Mänttä and Serclachius Museum because one of my artworks has been chosen to a small exhibition in autumn 2018 - so, I actually will get my art shown at the museum. But who can wait a whole year to get one's artwork inside museum walls? I really hadn't planned to leave any Random Prints envelopes to the exhibition space of the museum, but as I noticed that one exhibition was titled Summer Days, I just couldn't help myself. The exhibition was so well guarded, that it took a little bit of planning and a little bit of sneaking around, before I could slip my envelope in between covers of the exhibition book resting on a bench. But I managed! Hopefully someone has also found it!

(This Summer Day II print was actually a bit hard to execute, because I defied the gamut area and created a turquoise colour that really cannot be printed. I made this by printing the picture first in blue, and then overprinting it with green and yellow layers. It actually worked out quite nicely, although it took several misprints before I got a hang of it. So, because all the misprints and the very laborious work itself this is by far the most expensive of the Random Prints to make - but I'm very happy I finally tried this out with success!)
