Kun ei löydä sanoja.
Viikon mittainen järkytys ja epäusko muuttui eilen uudenlaiseksi järkytykseksi ja epäuskoksi. En ole Ukrainan sodan alkamisen jälkeen juurikaan selaillut somea tai muutenkaan nettiä muutoin kuin uutisia lukeakseni, ja nyt kun ajattelin katsella vaihteeksi jotain kevyempää (jos vaikka jonkun ilahduttavan kissavideon löytäisi!), törmäsin johonkin tavallaan vieläkin irvokkaampaan kuin sotauutiset. Instagramissa joku oli tehnyt kuvakoosteen siitä, kuinka hashtageilla ukraine, war, peace tägätään postauksia, joissa mainostetaan olutta, monenlaisia kauneushoitoja huulitäytteistä ihaniin kasvohoitoihin ja kaikenmaailmankrääsää. Tämä jäi vaivaamaan, ja vähän myöhemmin halusin tarkistaa asian todenpitävyyden. En löytänyt enää samaa postausta, joten menin samoilla hashtageilla instagramiin (ja toivon, etten olisi tehnyt niin). Näitä nimenomaisia kuvakoosteen mainospostauksia en nähnyt, mutta sen sijaan muutamia töröhuulibimbo- ja muskeliselfieitä eri puolilta maailmaa. Niitä ei ollut kymmenien tuhansien kuvien kuvavirtaan verrattuna paljon, mutta yksikin on liikaa. (En voi suositella kenellekään noiden hakusanojen käyttämistä somessa - niiden tuomiin kuviin mahtuu todella hirveitä painajaisia - mikä osaltaan korostaa noiden töröhuuliposeerausten groteskiutta.)
Tänään menin erääseen print on demand -verkkokauppaan vilkaisemaan, josko löytäisin jonkun kivan t-paidan lahjaksi kaverilleni. Kauppojen selailu pysäytti: Ukraina, sota ja rauha-teemaisia t-paitoja ja muita painotuotteita on kaupan vaikka kuinka paljon. Muutaman kohdalla lukee fundraiser tms., mutta raadollinen totuus taitaa olla, että Ukraina, sota ja rauha, ja keltaisen ja sinisen kombinaatio ovat ilmeisesti vain hyviä tuotteita juuri nyt.

When you don't find the words.
A week of shocking news and disbelief in the current situation turned yesterday into a new kind of disturbance and disbelief. After the start of the war in Ukraine I haven't really been in social media or in internet otherwise, and when I now was seeking for something comforting to view (even some delightful cat video!), I found something even more grotesque than the war news. In Instagram someone had made a compilation of the images using hashtags ukraine, war, peace - advertising bear, several kinds of beauty treatments from filled lips to delightful facials, and allkindsofkitch. This bothered me later, so I wanted to check the accuracy of these postings. I didn't find the original posting anymore, so I used the same hashtags on Instagram (I wish I hadn't.) I didn't see these advertising postings mentioned, but instead a few duck face posings and muscle showing selfies around the world. There weren't so many in the feed of tens of thousands of the other images, but even one is more than enough. (I really can't recommend for anyone to use those hashtags in social media - there are really nightmarish images included - which really emphasizes the preposterousness of the selfies.)
Today I thought I'd buy some nice t-shirt to my friend from some print on demand shop. As I searched through the selection, I noticed that there were several Ukraine, war and peace themed t-shirts and other printed stuff on sale. Some state that they are fundraisers, but somehow I think that the unscrupulous truth is, that Ukraine, war and peace, as well as the combination of yellow and blue, are just good selling articles right now.
